NYC Search and Rescue Aided by "Abby"
There have been many moments of pride
for me in the retriever game. This is by far my happiest. Wilma
Melville advised me today of a bitch named "Abby"
that traveled to Ground Zero to assist in the efforts. Wilma
chairs the National
Disaster Search Dog Foundation. She bred her wonderful Advanced
Search & Rescue dog, Murphy, to Abe (Abercrombie & Fitch MH).
Abe was owned by me and co-owned by the late Nick Mickelson.
Abby and Jefferson were the two in a litter of seven to become
FEMA Certified Advanced Search & Rescue dogs . With only 48 FEMA
Certified dogs in the United States, two in the same litter is
quite an accomplishment!
Abe, who died in 1999, also produced 34 guide dogs, 2 bomb detection
dogs, and 13 Master Hunters.
May Abe's contributions and legacy live on in his progeny!
