American Labradors
Featured Dog:
BIS CH Shamrock Acres Light Brigade
CH Shamrock Acres Light Brigade ("Briggs") was bred and owned by Sally McArthy and co-owned by Mrs. James Getz. Briggs held the record for the greatest number of Best in Show wins achieved by a Labrador for nearly thirty-five years, twelve in all. His show career was brief, and lasted approximately one year.
Briggs sired 93 champions, a record held for approximately thirty-five years, as the top sire in breed history. His contribution to show pedigrees is still profoundly evident in today's show lines. For instance, the greater pedigree of CH Franklin's Pickpocket for Kerrybrook MH ("Pete"), traces back to Briggs at least ten times!

Of the 93 champions Briggs produced, the dam of sixteen was CH Franklin's Tally of Burywood. The Tally / Briggs combination produced the most champion get among the various breedings that Briggs sired.
Probably the most prominent of the sixteen champions was CH Franklin's Golden Mandigo. Mandigo was a top sire in breed history, having sired, among others, 13 x Best in Show CH Charisma's Lone Star Rick, who exceeeded his grandfather Briggs in BIS wins by one.
